Nichols Lake Protection Initiative
Over the past couple of years, Nichols Lake has become a popular place for unauthorized nighttime parties.
There have been many safety issues concerning the practice of dropping off children attending Prospect Road Elementary on McDonald Lake Drive. In an effort to eliminate the necessity of any child having to cross the street and also stop the dangerous, illegal practice of “U” turns, a student drop-off area has been established.
Drivers enter the one way lane at the mail box entrance, where children can exit the vehicle on to a path directly to the school. Drivers pull through the opposite end of the drop off area back onto McDonald Lake Drive. Under the direction of the Department of Transportation ‘No Stopping Signs’ have been installed along McDonald Lake Drive, to make sure that both students & vehicle traffic have a clear, unobstructed view at all times.
